Exit Interview The inspection scope and findings were summarized on July 26,1985, with those persons indicated in paragraph 1 above.
The inspector described the areas inspected and discussed the inspection findings.
No dissenting comments were received from the licensee. The licensee did not identify as proprietary any of the materials provided to or reviewed by the inspector during this inspection.

The procedures were reviewed for conformance to administrative controls.
This included verifying that pertinent prerequisites were identified, initial test conditions and acceptance criteria specified, the required reviews were performed, and management approval was indicated.
No violations or deviations were identified in the areas inspected.
6.
Preoperational Test Witnessing (70312, 70438, 70441) - Unit 2 The inspector witnessed portions of the following preop tests:

TP/2/A/1200/02A, Residual Heat Removal System Functional Test, Section 12.6, which verified valve 2ND37A could be operated by its alternate power source.
TP/2/A/1250/04 (Sections 12.4, 12.14, 12.15), Section 12.4 verifies
-
motor driven pump 2A and associated flow control valves response times upon simulation of an auto-start signal and demonstrates reset capa-bility with the auto-start signal still present; Section 12.14 measures head and flow for motor driven pump 2A while the pump takes suction from and recirculates to the upper surge tank; Section 12.15 is the same as Section 12.14 except that motor driven pump 28 is operated.
TP/2/A/1550/01B, Section 12.2, which demonstrates proper operation of

the interlock between the diesel generator fuel oil day tank retaining wall drain valve 2FD83 and the lube oil transfer pump.
TP/2/A/1700/01B, Section 12.1 and 12.2, which verify proper operation
-
of various system alarms and the interlock between the pre-lube oil pump and the lube oil sump tank heater.
The purpose of preop tests TP/2/A/1550/01B and TP/2/A/1700/01B is to demon-strate proper operation of interlocks and selected valves while diesel generator 2B is in a standby mode of operation.
The above tests were witnessed to verify the following:

7.
Technical Specification Review (71301)
The inspector attended portions of the meeting held to discuss the NRC staff
'
comments, transmitted by letter dated July 5, 1985, on the Catawba Units 1 and 2 First Draft Technical Specifications. The meeting was attended by NRC staff members from NRR, and representatives from the licensee and Westing-house.
Items discussed during the meeting and the results achieved will be included in the meeting minutes, which will be issued at a later date.
The inspector reviewed a sampling of the proposed Technical Specification (TS) changes to determine the clarity of limiting conditions for operations, including applicable action statements, surveillance requirements, and administrative controls. No substantive comments were identified.
