Thank you for your supplemental response of April 8, 1997, to our Notice of Violation issued on September 6,

1996, concerning activities conducted at your Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant facility.

Your decision to substitute a

vertical slice review of the Auxiliary Feedwater. System for the Fire Protection System is acceptable.

We have evaluated your response and found that 'it meets the requirements of 10 CFR 2.201.

We will examine the implementation of your corrective action during future inspections.
