This routine, unannounced inspection was conducted in the area of the Physical Security Program for Power Reactor; specifically Management Support, Security Program Plans; Audits; Protected and Vital Area Barriers; Detection Aids; Assessment Aids; Alarm Stations and Communications; Testing, Maintenance and j Compensatory Measures; and Security Training and Qualification I Results:

2 Non-Cited Violation (NCV) 89-18-02: Inspector identified violation in the preparation of the Licensee Event Report of the above event, see paragraph . Cited Violation 89-18-03: Failure to follow Security Procedures, see paragraph Two NRC Notices and one previous violation were closed. Results of this inspection indicate that the Security Program continues to be effective in most aspects and the security organization is capable of providing an acceptable level of protection for the station. However, in the areas of Protected Area Detection Aids coverage and maintenance, a concern was identified regarding technical support of the new Protected Area Detection Aids as a result of a review of previous maintenance and repair records, see paragraph 2.e. Also, potential detection aid coverage deficiencies were identified, see paragraph 2.d. The licensee's review of the Security Parts Inventory log to ensure adequate quantities of security parts are on hand; the timeliness of the initial rephir response; and the professionalism of the Security Force personnel wei-a noteworthy.
