INSPECTION REPORT No. 50-302/97-12

Dear Mr. Anderson:

This is to advise you of a specialinspection initiative that is being performed at operating reactors. it will include an inspection to be performed at your Crystal River site. The

' initiative is entitled the " Emergency Operating Procedures Inspection Program."

The purpose of the inspection is to ensure that Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs)

meet commitments and regulatory requirements. This inspection will consist of selective  ;

i examinations of the EOPs and a review of the analysis and documentation which support the l- EOPs. The onsite inspection is sche duled for October 20-31,1997 and November 3-7,1997.

To facilitate the inspection certain information contained in the accompanying enclosure is requested. The information should arrive in Region ll headquarters on or about October 6th.

This inspection effort will be led by Mr. Rogers. - Mr, Rogers will contact members of your staff during the week of October 6th to discuss the details of the inspection. If you have any questions in the interim regarding the inspection program, please contact him at (404) 562-4619.

The request for information is covered by Office of Management and Budget (OMB)

Clearance Number 3150-0101, which expires April 30,2000.
