regarding our response to violation 298/8712-02, Reference 2.

Enclosed are copies of the approved 1986 SRAB training records for the five
'
' individuals who were members of SRAB for the entire year.
Since the inspection, the filing and documenting of SRAB training has significantly been improved.
In - addition to the use of a SRAB Training Report form, the reports are now discussed at SRAB meetings and documented in the minutes.

At SRAB Meeting 122, the minutes for the October 1986 meeting were amended j
to exempt F.
J.
Schaaf from the 1986 training requirement.
The minutes now l
state that "Since Mr. Schaaf's appointment to SRAB was effective September
!
9, 1986, his 20-hour training requirement for 1986 will also be waived." The basis for these two exemptions was that they had been members of SRAB for less than one year and insufficient time remained in 1986 to arrange for
"SRAB" training.
During the next revision to the SRAB Instructions and Guidelines attachments, a statement will be added clarifying when exemptions may be granted.
l To preclude the possibility of misplaced training records in the future, a computerized tracking system will be implemented to track the training along with the annual microfilming and indexing of such records.
The 1986 records will be microfilmed by December 31, 1987.
This requirement will also be incorporated into the next SRAB Instructions and Guidelines revision.
The Distriet would like to clarify a statement in Reference 2.
The District's QA audit was performed " prior" to the NRC inspection not " subsequent" to.
