Dear Mr.Durr:
This letter corrects a minor discrepancy in section 2.0 page 4 of IR 91-13, which stated that no Magnetic Particle (MT)or Penetrant Test (PT)was performed on the steam generator manway studs prior to their installation.
The inspector noted that action item 2 of IEB 82-02 states that these studs should be inspected by surface examination as well as visual examination.
As noted in the inspection report, the ROTE Quality Assurance Manual stipulates that our required examination for steam generator manway studs is a visual examina-tion, consistent with our response to IEB 82-02.Although not a regulatory requirement, RG8cE did perform MT and Ultrasonic Testing (UT), as well as Visual (VT)inspection prior to re-installation of these studs.RGEcE's Maintenance In-Service Inspection Program is used to schedule these studs for inspection yearly, during each refueling outage.This scheduling is accomplished via a computer database and does call out surface examination.
