Pursuant to Section 6.9.2 of Appendix A of the Diablo s Canyon Unit 1 Operating License, and as specifically required by Technical Specification 3.7.10, this Special Report is submitted concerning fire barriers in safety related areas being non-functional for greater than seven (7) days.

On December 30, 1983, installation of a conduit through a fire barrier wall in the cable spreading room rendered the fire barrier non-functional. The work was completed and the fire barrier declared functional on' January 7, 1984.

Four (4) fire doors were removed on January 7, 1984, and replaced with heavy duty pressure fire doors. The replacement was completed on January 26, 1984.

On January 9, 1984, duriag the removal and modification of the main steam line whip restraints, six (6) fire barrier penetrations were made non-functional.

The fire barrier penetrations will be restored prior to heat-up of the Reactor Coolant Systeu.

Additionally, on January 16, 1984, construction crews removed a fire door and frame to repair a mount bolt. The frame has been replaced and sealed with fire retardant caulking.
