Enclosure 1 PG&E Letter DCL-04-103 JULY 2004, OPERATION SUMMARIES DIABLO CANYON POWER PLANT UNITS I AND 2 Summary of Unit 1 Operation Unit 1 began July in Mode 1 (Power Operation) at approximately 100 percent power.

On July 21, 2004, operators initiated an unplanned technical specification required.

shutdown and took the unit off-line to repair Component Cooling Water leak (crack) inside containment (Reference NRC Event Number 40890). On July 22, 2004, the reactor was taken to Mode 3 (Hot Standby). On July 24, 2004, after completing repairs, operators paralleled the unit to the grid, and initiated a ramp to full power. 'The unit ended the month in Mode 1 at approximately 100 percent power.

Summary of Unit 2 Operation Unit 2 began July in Mode 1 at approximately 100 percent power. On July 24, 2004, operators performed a planned ramp of the unit to approximately 50 percent reactor power to remove biofouling from the condenser tube sheet and water box. On July 25, 2004, after completing condenser maintenance, operators ramped the unit to approximately 100 percent power. The unit ended the month in Mode 1 at approximately 100 percent power.

Actuations of Pressurizer Safety or Power-Operated Relief Valves There were no challenges to the pressurizer power-operated relief valves, pressurizer safety valves, or steam generator safety valves.
