Enclosure 1 PG&E Letter DCL-02-026 FEBRUARY 2002, OPERATION SUMMARIES DIABLO CANYON POWER PLANT UNITS I AND 2 Summary of Unit 1 Operation Unit 1 began February in Mode 1 (Power Operation), at approximately 100 percent power. Both units were curtailed on February 14, 2002, when power was reduced to approximately 58 percent because of entry into T.S. 3.0.3 due to previously identified instrument uncertainties associated with narrow range steam generator (SG) level low low trip setpoint. On February 16, 2002, following resetting of the SG level low-low trip setpoints, operators returned the unit to approximately 100 percent power.

Summary of Unit 2 Operation Unit 2 began January in Mode 1 at approximately 100 percent power. On Feburary 9, 2002, operators manually tripped Unit 2 due to loss of feedwater to a SG.

On February 12, 2002, following replacing of a failed solenoid valve and fuse, operators returned the unit to approximately 100 percent power.

Both units were curtailed on February 14, 2002, to approximately 58 percent because of entry into T.S. 3.0.3 due to previously identified instrument uncertainties associated with narrow range SG level low-low trip setpoint. After reaching approximately 58 percent power, Unit 2 was further curtailed to below 50 percent until the quadrant power tilt ratio had stabilized below 1.02. On February 16, 2002, following resetting of the SG level low-low trip setpoints, operators returned the unit to approximately 100 percent power.

Actuations of Safety or Pressurizer Power Operated Relief Valves There were no challenges to the pressurizer power operated relief valves, pressurizer safety valves, or steam generator safety valves.
