Dear Sir:

Boston Edison Company has reviewed the NRC proposed Generic Communication on Augmented Inservice Inspection. Requirements for Mark I and Mark II Containments, Refueling Cavities and Associated Drainage Systems.

The Federal Register Notice provides a thirty day comment period for the NRC proposed requirements. The 30 day period is insufficient for a thorough evaluation and formulation of technical comments. We recommend an additional 60 days be provided to facilitate a more thorough evaluation of the proposed requirements.

We endorse the referenced NUMARC comments and positions offered to the NRC on behalf of the nuclear industry.
