NAME OF PREPARER

O SUPPLEMENT TO LER 79-041/04T-1 On 11/19/79, Boston Edison received confirmation from the Yankee Atomic En-vironmental Laboratory which indicated that an elevated concentration of Co-60 existed in an air particulate quarterly composite sample taken from the Overlook Area (0.03 miles west of the Pilgrim Reactor Building). The sample represented a composite of weekly samples taken from 6/26/79 to 9/24/79.

This level was in excess of 10 times the calculated Lower Limit of Detection LLD) at the control station in East Weymouth. The measured concentration of CO-60 at the overlook area was 1012 x 10-5 PCi/ Cubic Meter as compared to the LLD value of 90 x 10-5 PCi/ Cubic Meter at the Control Station.

This concentration does not present a significant source of exposure to any member of the public and would result in a maximum dose of about 2x10-2 mrem to any organ of a maximum exposed individual during the quarter.
