South Texas Project Unit 2 Docket No. STN 50-499 Special Report Recardina Pluacina of Steam Generator Tubes Pursuant to the requirements of STP Technical Specifications 4.4.5.5a and 6.9.2, Houston Lighting & Power (HL&P) submits this '

special Report regarding plugging of Unit 2 steam generator tubes.

HL&P completed the inservice inspection of the Unit 2 steam generators on September 4, 1993. As a result of anti-vibration bar (AVB) wear, one tube in steam generator A had an imperfection depth that exceeded the Technical Specification limit of 40% of nominal tube wall thickness. This tube exhibited wear to a depth of 36%,

41%, and 45% at AVB locations 4, 3, and 2, respectively. This tube was stabilized and plugged.

Two other tubes were preventively plugged and stabilized due j to wear in the AVB area which did . not exceed the Technical Specification limit. One tube in steam generator A had experienced  !

wear to a depth of 31% at AVB 3 and 23% at AVB 4. One tube in steam generator D had experienced wear to a depth of 37% at AVB 2.
