SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-113/99-201

Dear Dr. Powell:

On May 4 ~- 7,1999, the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted

an announced in'spection of the University of Arizona's Nuclear Reactor Laboratory TRIGA .

Reactor. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.

Various aspects of your reactor health' physics, emergency preparedness, and safeguards ~

programs were i~ spected, including selective examinations of procedures and

representative rec.ords, interviews with personnel, and observations of the facility.

Based on the results of this inspection, no safety concern or noncompliance with NRC

requirements was identified. No response to this letter is required.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter

and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
