Docket No. 50-305 General Emergency X Not Applicable Subj ct: FAILURE OF REACTOR TRIP BREAKERS At 10:10 a.m. (CST), on November 7,1985, while performing tests on the "B" bypass reactor trip breaker pursuant to IE Bulletin 85-02, the breaker failed to operate. The unit was operating at 100% power at the time of the failure. A spare reactor trip breaker and the "A" bypass reactor trip breaker were successfully tested on November 6 and 7,1985 respectively.

Subsequently, the licensee tested the main reactor trip breakers. The testing resulted in

-the failure of the "A" breaker and the successful passing of the "B" breaker. The licensee has restored the plant to a condition in which both the main reactor trip breakers are now

. operable.

The licensee plans to conduct further testing of the failed breakers.
