Roger Hannah 404-331-7878 NRC SCHEDULES SPECIAL INSPECTION EXIT MEETING AT BRUNSWICK PLANT The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has scheduled a public exit meeting at Carolina Power & Light's (CP&L) Brunswick nuclear power plant in Southport to discuss the results of an NRC i inspection into potential tampering events at the plant last l week. The meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, November '

15, in the plant's Training Center. l The potential tampering events involved locks on the plant site that some person or persons attempted to disable. An NRC inspector from the Region II office in Atlanta has been conducting a special inspection this week and will present  !

preliminary results of that inspection at the public exit meeting.

CP&L took additional security measures after the potential tampering was discovered and continues to investigate the incidents. The NRC inspection is looking at CP&L's security program in place before the events and the company's responses to the potential tampering.
