SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE TO INTERVENORS' GENERAL INTERROGATORIES Applicant hereby supplements its January 24, 1986 response to Intervenors' General Interrogatory 2 by updating the list of the witnesses it currently intends to present in this proceeding.

1. Contention item 8.C. Frederick E. Graves will discuss the requirements of ASTM A307 as well as the possibility that lower strength bolts could have been sub-stituted. Mr. Graves' qualifications are attached. Martin R. Frankel will discuss the statistical validity of the testing program conducted in response to this concern.

Louis O. Del George will discuss the background of the particular issue and give an overview.

2. Contention item 9.E. Mr. Gerry Groth will discuss the reinspection program undertaken as a result of this NRC concern.

Fastener Engineering Consultant 224 Eliot Street, P.O. Box 823 Fairfield, Connecticut 06430 Fr:;d Graves, Fastener Engineering Consultant, received his B.S. Degree f rcm Pennsylvania State University. He spent three years as a Research Engineer at Battelle Memorial Insti-tute followed by nine years in development and design of processing equipment and materials handling equipment. In 1956 he joined the staff of Russell, Burdsall and Ward, a major pr:ducer of industrial fasteners and in 1959 was appointed Technical Director.

As Technical Director, he was in charge of R B & W's Customer Technical Service, designed to provide f astener application engineering to major manufacturers of mechanical assem-blies.

H2 lef t Russell, Burdsall and Ward in 1969 to establish his private consulting practice in tha area of Applied Fastener Engineering--basically oriented to OEM Fastener System Design, Product Reliability, Cost Improvement, and Product Liability Prevention..

Mr. Graves is an active member of ANSI B18, ASTM F-16. A-1, A-5, and F-24, SAE Fastener Committee, Division 29 of the SAE Iron and Steel Technical Committee, the Research Council on Structural Connections, the Am?.rican Society of Quality Control, the Standards Engi-nearing Society, and the Connecticut Society of Professional Engineers.

Additionally, he served for nine years as a U.S. Delegate to the ISO Meetings on Interna-tional Standardization.

H2 is listed in the " Expert-Fastener" category with the Defense Research Institute, the Accociation of Trial Lawyers of America and with numerous Casualty Insurance carriers; and hao extensive expert witness experience.

H2 is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Assembly Engineering, and a Contri-buting Editor to Fastener Technology.

In addition to a recent article in SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, Mr. Graves has authored numerous technical articles for publication in IRON AGE, METAL PROGRESS, PRODUCTS ENGINEERING, STEEL, WIRE AND WIRE PRODUCTS, CIVIL DIGINEERING MACHINE DESIrN, TRIAL, AMER. NATL.

METRIC COUNCIL REPORTER, FASTDIER TECHNOLOGY, STANDARDS DiGINEER, DESIGN ENGINEERING, NATIONAL SAFETY COUNCIL NEWSLETTER, ASSEMBLY DIGINEERING, and others: and has addressed many engineering groups such as: UNIV. of WISCONSIN, SES, ASME, NATIONAL SAFETY COUNCIL AMERICAN SOCIETY OF SAFETY ENGINEERS ASTM, SAE, AREA, ASSEMBLY ENGINEERING CONFERENCE.
