ENCLOSilRE SHOREHAM OPERATING EXPERIENCE The review included a survey of reported events at Shoreham during the two month period between early December 1984 and early February 1985 (i.e.,

period of the fuel load license) and a comparison of the reports with reports ~

from other recently licensed BWRs and PWRs.

The basic sources of the reports were the files .of prompt (telephone) notifi-cations filed per 10 CFR 50.72 and Licensee Event Reports (LERs). Operating Reactors Events Briefing summaries were also examined to identify the more significant,e' vents.

Survey *of Experience ,

The interim fuel load license period considered in the survey has extended from December 7,1984 to Febryary 5,1985. In this period, the plant operated in modes 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 for the purpose loading fuel and performing startup testing.

In the two month license per.iod, Shoreham reported 3 non-security events.

These eve ~nts have included inadvertent actuations of either the Reactor Protection System or Emergency Safety Feature equipment. Review of operating reacto'r event briefing minutes indicates that no events were reported for Shoreham at the bi-weekly operating reactor event briefings held during the past two months. .

Conclusion Statistically, operating experience during the fuel load license period at Shoreham has been~similar to that at other recently licensed plants. However, any evaluation of operating experience at Shoreham must be considered somewhat

'c*k inconclusive since the evaluation period is short and the reactor has not been operated critical for any significant period of time. .
