Dear Sir:

Re: Environmental Report, Construction Permit Stage, New Haven Nuclear Station (Project No. 657), Oswego County, New York We have reviewed the subject report prepared by the New York State Electric and Gas Corporation. The project site consists of approx-inately 1,294 acres of fields and wooded land located about 2 miles south of Lake Ontario. Approximately 136 acres vill contain permar'ent station structures and will be committed for the life of the project.

The report adequately describes the mineral resources (currently only sand and gravel is produced in Oswego County), geology, and mining operations near the site as well as the ccumitment of resources for the life of the project. We have no obj ections to this environmental report with respect to its coverage of mineral resources and mining.

Sincerely yours, s' '
