Gentlemen:

The Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Chairman of the NYS Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment have agreed to hold a joint hearing on common issues in the applications to construct New Haven 1 and 2. Chairman Hendrie and Chairman Zielinski also have authorized the joint hearing body (consisting of the state Examiners and the federal Atomic Safety and Licensing Board) to decide the specific procedures to govern the joint hearing.

Staffs of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Department of Public Service have discussed these procedures, and D 242 ei 0'
