The concentration of electrical plants at the site and the geography of the area with a shallow shelf going i
out into the Gulf without a strong natural flushing mechanism suggest that major environmental problems may arise at the site. In these circumstances, it is dis-appointing that the environmental status reports of the Florida Power Corporation for April - December 1971, which I have been down, do not reflect the thoroughness and cogency of artalysis which I believe will be necessary to focus and resolve the environmental problems.
I urge the Commission to take whatever steps it can to improve the quality of the work being done by Florida Power. Further, I request that you keep me informed of the progress at the plant, particularly the availability of any environmental impact statement prepared by'the AEC staff, and the notice of hearing for the operating license hearings.
