TRANSMITTAL OF SUPPLEMENT 1 TO THE SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT (NUREG-1875)
Dear Mr. Rausch:
By letter dated July 22, 2005, AmerGen Energy Company, LLC, submitted its application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or staff) for renewal of the Oyster Creek Generating Station operating license for an additional 20 years. AmerGen submitted the license renewal application pursuant to Title 10, Part 54, Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants, of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR Part 54). The staff issued a safety evaluation Report (SER) in two volumes in April 2007 (NUREG-1875, Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Oyster Creek Generating Station), that summarized the results of its safety review of the renewal application for compliance with the requirements of 10 CFR Part 54. Subsequently on April 29, 2008, the staff requested additional information concerning the use of a simplified method to calculate the cumulative usage factor for the reactor recirculation outlet nozzles. The enclosed Supplement 1 to the SER documents the staffs review of AmerGens response to the Staffs April 29, 2008 request.
