OYSTER CREEK NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION - EXEMPTION FROM TITLE 10 OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 20, APPENDIX G, SECTION III.E (EPID NO. L-2022-LLE-0025)
Dear Jean Fleming:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has granted Holtec Decommissioning International, LLC (HDI) the enclosed exemption from the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 20, Appendix G,Section III.E, for investigating, tracing and reporting shipments of low-level radioactive wastes (LLW) where receipt is not acknowledged by the recipient within 20 days after transfer to the shipper. The exemption extends the receipt acknowledgment period from 20 days to 90 days before HDI will have to investigate, trace and report on the status of a LLW shipment being transported from the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station to a licensed low-level radioactive waste processing or land disposal facility.
A copy of the exemption is enclosed and has been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication. In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
