Dresden Station On-site Review and Inspection No. 75-2 dated January 6, 1975

Dear Sir:

i On January 5, 1975 a weekend outage began on unit three. During the outage the four inch recirculation bypass piping Wa.s inspected for possible cracks. AU. T. inspection of eleven welds Wa.s performed on both the "A"f;, and "B" recirculation lines. The U.T. examination-included "Ln:};wave and sheer wave testing.*

The results of this inspection did not indica;\!e any questionable welds. However, when the inspection

to the base _line data one weld did not agree. The weld was again examined using the same procedure as was used for the baseline inspection.*

The results of this examination duplicated the base line data. In addition to the U.T. inspection radiograPhs-were also made of the weld-o-lets at the 28 inch recirculation header. The results of the radiographs confirmed the results of the U.T. inspection.

All of the inspection data was reviewed with a representitfY,e.of.the Atomic Energy Commission and no indications of cracked welds were __ :f,ound-.
