'40 are writing to exprass our strong support for the Petitlen for Leave to Intervene and Requect for 2,3 ring filed by the Fhilippine Movecent for invirotnectal i'rotection, on April 19, 1079, in the above-captioned proceedings, concerning the proposed export of a nuclear power reactor and fuel to the Phili; pines ty tne Heatin-housa e Zlectric C o rp o ra tion .

Je are residents of the Philippines, deeply worried about the serious risks to health, sa fet y, and well-bein; cf the public posed by the proposed nuclesr 9xports. Our people will be affected bv the decision of the Conmission on the pending application. Specifical.7, we are concera.el about:

1 the effect of the normal operations of the pisnt on the health an2 safety of people living cless to the plant. -

2. the danser to us of an accident involving the relessa of rsdistion, lika the one which occured et the Three F.ile Icland nuclear power pla nt in the U. .,
3. the risks of a nucleer accident due to ecrthquakes or volcanic eruptions in the vicinity of the plant:

4 the aderracy of contingency pla ns in the event of an ener:ency, including the evacuatien of those of ua living near the plants

5. the safety of arren:+ments f or the move ent and diarosal of radiosctive wsstes ;enera ted by the plant and the disposal of j

the ple nt itself at the end of its useful life.

We are appealing to the Commission to cr?nt the FMEP c heering  !
