January 27, 1980 Nuclear Regulatory Cbmmission Washington, D.C. 20555 Daar People:
Even after being sent to Vietnam in 1968, I still try to argue the basic soundness of this American system and government of ours.
You folks will make it very difficult to support such a view if you acquiesce in the decision to construct the Marong Nuclear Plant in the Phillipines.
Westinghouse profits by selling the reactor to the Phillipines, Marcos is paid-off, U.S. companies use the electric power to run factories in a tax-free zone with unaerpaid Filipino labor, and the people of the Phillipines are left with nothing but a nuclear reactor sitting on the slope of an active volcano.
This is just unbelievable and absolutely criminal.
Haven't we yet learned that supporting unconscionable activities such as this will inevitebly backfire, i.e. Nicaragua, Iran, Vietnam?
And by God, if you people aren't going to do your jobs, then I and people lika me are going to make sure you get the hell out Washington, i
