I ACRS Lersey Central Power end 1.inht Company. letter dated December 13. 1971 -

reports an oil test in the hydraulic dashpot of one isolation valve and t.he excessive leakage past the seat of the same valve. Rapairs were l swde and leak tightness restored. N valve will be retested at the next planned cold shutdown but no later than the next refueling (April 1972).

No ACRS action is recomunended.

The eactosed matertal should be retained as part of the pernament record.

I (JC VRS Misoperation of. Diesel treskit Jersey Central Power and 1.taht company letter dated December 13. 1971 reports an incident of an operator closing the generator breaker evitch onto a diesel generator that was at a standstill. The unit .as tested and found to be undamaged.

N licensee conc 1 mees that the Cece Spray Systees is euttable for sentinued operation and the jockey pump modt-fication has eliminated the water hanumer problem.

A study was perf rmed to evaluate the effects of water h r en the

piping componente and included stress and fatigue smalysis and cesspartoon I with low cycle fatigue tests. N piping was sondestructively tested.

! N piping was found to be satisfactory. Operation via.h the jockey j pump indicates that the water hasamer problem has boca ellainated.

VRS Main steen Isolation Yalve Fatture ACRS Jersey Central Powet_ and Limht Company letter dated December 14. 1971 reports the f ailure of a section of the hydraulic dashpot that prevented one main steam isolation valve from closing fully. A cast iron cushion spud failed and medged in the me:hanism. N other valves were inspected I and another failed spud was found. Replacements wre manuf actured and the l valve operators were repaired and the valves returned to service. The j cause of the failures is still inneer investigation but is specultsed to be a shock leadind during a startup procedure..

N DC motor burned out apparently due to oil leakage. N motor was repaired and returned to service. ndditional action is being taham to amours that oti does not accumulate in motors.  ;
