RE: KI Replenishment for California Good Morning Mr. Potter, Sorry I haven't responded sooner, I was out of the office last week. We are currently working on replenishing KI that expires in 2014. My records indicate that California received a total 203,300 tablets (expiring 12/2014) and also 1,358,032 tablets (260,200 tablets expire 12/2014). The remaining 1,097,840 tablets expire in 2015.
We are currently working on getting a contract in place to purchase tablets. At this time we are unable to promise additional tablets due to population increases. Please feel free to send your request for the total amount of tablets that you would like to receive. Ifsomething in the future changes, we will let you know if it would be possible to send additional tablets.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you, Annette Stang Annette M. Stang, EP Analyst Nuclear Regulatory Commission DPR/EP/IRIB Two White Flint North (T-3B46M) 11545 Rockville Pike Rockyille, Maryland 20855 301415-2918 Annette.Stang@nrc.gov From: Potter, Bill@CaIEMA [1]

RE: KI Replenishment for California Annette We have started looking at the numbers and we are coming up with some major discrepancies.
We have approximately 1.3 million tablets at the SONGS site which you do not mention in your original email. Could you take another look at what was supplied to California to our Orange County site. We received two shipments from lot numbers TU905A and TU902C at Orange County.
Our records indicate that we received in 65mg tablets by site:
DCPP - 203,300 SONGS - 1,358,040 1
Additionally California purchased 200,000 65mg tablets to cover the greater than 10 mile EPZ at DCPP. We also purchased 50,008 135mg tablets for state workers and institutionalized populations.
I would like to confirm these numbers with you to ensure there are no discrepancies before we make our official request. Please call or email and let us know what you have found out.

- Hello, The NRC is preparing to replenish expiring stockpiles of KI tablets. According to our records your State has 203,300 (65mg) tablets with lot numbers TU902B expiring in December 2014 and 260,200 (65mg) tablets with lot numbers TU902C expiring in December 2014. If your State wishes to participate in the NRC KI tablet replenishment, please respond with the delivery address, point of contact (including phone number) and any special delivery requests you have no later than May 31, 2013. Please note these tablets will not be shipped until 2014 to ensure timely replacement of your States expiring KI stockpiles. We will notify you prior to shipment of the tablets to enable you to make any preparations necessary for receipt of the shipment.
