Ithasbeendetermined thattherewerevariousdegradedcomponents intheControlRoomRadiation Monitoring system.Thesedegradedcomponents resultedinelectronic spikesinthereadingsonthemonitors.
Thehigherconcentrations ofRadonandRadondecayproductscausedthemargintothetripsetpointtobereduced.Thus,inthepresenceofelevatedRadonlevels,theelectronic spikescausedasetpointtobeexceeded.
WhenelevatedRadonlevelswerenotpresent,largerspikesalsocausedasetpointtobeexceeded.
Thedegradedcomponents, resulting inelectronic spikes,weretherootcauseoftheControlRoomEmergency AirTreatment System(CREATS)actuations.
AllCREATSactuations, including thoseoriginally believedtobevalidactuations, were,infact,invalidactuations.
