This information and relevant corrective actions were identified in Licensee Event Report (LER) 272/96-020, dated September 18, 1996 (LR-N96286).

The potential for waterhammer, two-phase flow and thermally induced overpressurization associated with the post accident operation of the Containment Fan Coil Units (CFCU) was previously identified by PSE&G as applicable to the Salem Units. This information and relevant corrective actions were identified in Licensee Event Report (LER) 272/96-020, dated September 18, 1996 (LR-N96286).
As noted in this LER, waterhammer and two phase flow are of concern to CFCU operation during the beginning of some accidents prior to the automatic isolation of non-essential service water loads. These conditions have been addressed through reanalysis of the affected accidents and submittal of License Change Request 96-13, dated October 25, 1996 (LR-N96287).
