FPL attempted toclean all three intake pipes during the 2007 outage. Due to bad weather and concerns for diver safety the proposed project was not completed within the scheduled time frame: Status of the current pipe cleaning" The south 12 foot pipe cleaning is expected to be complete in the next day or so." The south 12 foot pipe dead end section has been closed off* The divers will attempt to begin removal of the large debris in the north 12 foot pipe and get as much cleaning as possible complete before the unit goes back in to service."
