Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) hereby provides revised Technical Specification Bases pages for Salem Unit 1 specifications 3/4.3.3.1 Radiation Monitoring Instrumentation, 3/4.3.3.8 Radioactive Liquid Effluent Monitoring Instrumentation and 3/4.3.3.9 Radioactive Gaseous Effluent Monitoring Instrumentation. These changes have been reviewed and found acceptable via the process outlined in 10CFR50.59 and are being submitted for documentation control I

purposes.

Attachment 1 contains the revised pages for the Salem Unit 1 Bases which should be incorporated into the applicable section of the Technical Specifications. Page B 3/4 3-2a, which was previously unnumbered and left intentionally blank is included in this transmittal since the subject revision has caused unchanged information to be relocated into this page.

A similar change for Salem Unit 2 was transmitted to you on January 23, 1997 (Our Ref: LR-N97035, LCR S96-24B).
