Due to my work schedule I was unable to attend the public meetings held in Middletown and Londonderry Township.I worked at the island for 6.5 years and was taught by the owners at the time (GPU Nuclear) that the reactor core was designed to run at full power for 40 years. What was done to the reactor core to extend this designed time frame?I helped with the temporary repairs done to the steam generators in 1982/1983 when we essentially cad welded the tube sheet to the tubes to stop or slow down the primary to secondary leaking due to corrosion.I understand that the plant was meant to run and the water treated to minimize the corrosion and because of the down time the corrosion happened.I know that the reactor core also suffered from this as well.I read that the new owners are replacing the steam generators which is very much needed and necessary to ensure safe operation and minimize contamination to the turbine and secondary plant.Again I ask, what was done to the reactor core and vessel to extend its designed life?I would appreciate a response to this valid question. You may e-mail me directly.I have always had the utmost respect and faith in the NRC and know you are on top of this.I just need the peace of mind for myself,my wife and children and my new grandchildren.I can see the plant from my porch.Thank-you very much for your time and your forthcoming response.

Extending the license of Unit 1
