1 Braidwood Tritium Migration Status Per the EDO's request, an update is being provided regarding the tritium migration issue at the Braidwood plant. Licensee monitoring and characterization efforts are ongoing. The extent of mig ation of the tritium is being evaluated through installation of new wells onsite, offsite, and alor g the discharge pipe. Most recent sample results have indicated tritium levels above background at two offsite locations along the discharge pipe. Specifically, tritium levels of approximately 25,000-30,000 picocuries per liter and 7,800 picocuries per liter have been identified at vacuum breaker No. 4 (located just offsite) and No. 7 (located about 2 miles west of the <ankakee River), respectively.

Paae- 1 Braidwood Tritium Migration Status Per the EDO's request, an update is being provided regarding the tritium migration issue at the Braidwood plant. The staff plans to issue an inspection report in the near term which statuses our actions to date, and additional onsite inspection is planned for the week of February 13, 2006. Media interest has increased and there has been extensive media coverage in the Chicago area. Also, there has been interest expressed by local officials and legislators with both the nearby Village of Godley and Will County planning public meetings on the issue.
