The following information is provided pursuant to the Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) Subsection 5.4.1 for the calendar year 1998.

A. Summaries and analyses of the results of the environmental protection activities required by EPP Subsection 4.2:

This subsection of the EPP provides protection of the two cultural resourns areas on the Waterford 3 site. There were no activities which affected either the Plantation Overseer's House site or the Plantation Quarter's site, both eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, during this reporting period.

B. EPP noncompliance's and the corrective actions taken to remedy them:

There were no noncompliances with the requirements of the EPP during this reporting period.

C. A discussion of changes in station design or operation, tests, or exoeriments made in accordance with the EPP Subsection 3.1 which involved a potential significant unreviewed environmental question:

There were no changes in station design or operation, tests or experiments involving a potential significant unreviewed environmental question during this reporting period.

D. Nonroutine reports submitted in accordance with Subsection 5.4.2:

On September 30,1998, Waterford 3 notified the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LA DEO) of the status of the measures 'Naterford 3 has taken with regard to minimizing periodic cooling tower spill over.

Waterford 3 has obtained system design changes from the cooling tower vendor and has included these changes in the plant's Performance improvement Plan for prioritization and implementation during the next refueling outage, Refuel 10. Implementation of the changes should minimize the spill over of water from the cooling towers.

- Concurrent with the above, Waterford '3 has applied for two additional Intemal'

- Outfalls to be included in the plant's Louisiana Pollutant Discharge Elimination.

System (LPDES) permit. ; This will result in requiring discharges from the cooling towers, such as spill over, be limited, monitored and reported to the LA DEQ in a monthly discharge monitoring report.
