By letter dated August 29, 2016, Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc. requested an amendment to the Technical Specifications (TS) for the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Unit No. 2. The license amendment request proposes to revise TS 2.1.1.2, "Reactor Core SLs
[Safety Limits]," to change the safety limit minimum critical power ratio from:
(1) greater than or equal to (;::::) 1.09 to greater than or equal to (;::::) 1.10 for two recirculation loop operation, and (2) greater than or equal to (;::::) 1.12 to greater than or equal to (;::::) 1.13 for single recirculation loop operation.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has determined that additional information is needed to continue its review. A clarification call was held on October 27, 2016, between your staff and representatives of the NRC concerning this request for additional information. During that call, Mr. McElroy agreed to respond to the enclosed request for additional information within 30 days of the date of this letter.
Enclosure 1 contains Proprietary information. When separated form Enclosure 1, this letter is DECONTROLLED.

By letter dated August 29, 2016, Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc. requested an amendment to the Technical Specifications (TS) for the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Unit No. 2. The license amendment request proposes to revise TS 2.1.1.2, "Reactor Core SLs

[Safety Limits]," to change the safety limit minimum critical power ratio from:

(1) greater than or equal to (;::::) 1.09 to greater than or equal to (;::::) 1.10 for two recirculation loop operation, and (2) greater than or equal to (;::::) 1.12 to greater than or equal to (;::::) 1.13 for single recirculation loop operation.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has determined that additional information is needed to continue its review.
