By letter dated August 31, 2022 (ML22243A209), Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of its intent to submit a Subsequent License Renewal Application (SLRA) for the Renewed Facility Operating Licenses for Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant (HNP) Units 1 and 2 in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 54, Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants, by the end of 2025.

Regulatory Issue Summary 2009-06 (ML090540789) described the importance of providing advance notice of the intent to pursue license renewal. Regulatory Issue Summary 2009-06 also encouraged licensees to notify the NRC of any changes in the previously announced license renewal application submission date.

The purpose of this letter is to provide the NRC with a more specific submission date for the SLRA for Renewed Facility Operating Licenses for HNP Units 1 and 2. SNC now intends to submit the SLRA for the Renewed Facility Operating Licenses for HNP Units 1 and 2 during the third quarter of 2025.
