Forty-five loggerhead turtles, seven green turtles, one hawksbill and one Kemp's ridley were removed from the St.

Lucie Plant intake canal during the January March quarter-of 1991. Two loggerheads were transferred to Sea World for rehabilitation one (removed on 8 March) died on 12 March, the other (removed on 5 February) is still undergoing treatment at Sea World. All other turtles were released into the ocean from Hutchinson Island. Measurements for all animals are attached.

Also, Dr. Wilcox has forwarded reports of four live sea turtles being removed from the Port Everglades Plant intake canal by Florida Power & Light personnel. On 11 January a turtle weighing approximately five pounds was removed and released in good condition. A turtle weighing approximately 50 pounds and identified by FPL personnel as a loggerhead was removed and released on 3 February. A third turtle was removed on 10 February its right. front flipper.

~ABI recapture. This turtle was removed from the intake canal, tagged and released 1.0 km south of the intake on 240CT90.

~This underweight turtle was given to Sea World for rehabilitation.

~ABI recapture. This turtle was removed from the intake canal, tagged (AAJ723/PFW349) and released 2.5 km south of the intake on 30MAY90. When it was recaptured in the intake canal on 6SEP90, AAJ723 was missing. Tags AAJ874 and PFW538 were applied and the turtle was released just south of the intake on 6SEP90. After the 23FEB91 capture, AAJ874'was removed and PPW584 was applied.

~ABI recapture. This turtle was removed from the intake canal, tagged and released 1.0 km south of the intake on 240CT90.

SThis turtle was taken to the University of Florida on 27MAR91. On 28MAR91, ten external lesions were removed from the turtle for analysis by Elliott R. Jacobson.

The turtle was released in good condition on 28MAR91.

~ABI recapture. This turtle was removed from the intake canal, tagged and released just south of the intake on 28MAR91. Measurements reported for 31MAR91 were taken on 28MAR91.

NOTE: Tag PPW565 malfunctioned and was not applied to a turtle.
