The~ Light company Houston Lighting & Power ut em rject ectr c ener.t og tat n . O. Box 289 Waworth, Texas 77483 June 29, 1995 ST-HI,AE-5115 File No.: G02.06 10CFR50.36 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attention: Document Control Desk Washington ,C 20555 South Texas Project Unit 1 Docket No. STN 50-498 Unit 1 Cycle 6 Startup Testing Summary Report South Texas Project Technical Specification 6.9.1.1 requires a summary report of appropriate plant startup and power escalation testing following the installation of fuel that has a different design. South Texas Project, Unit 1, installed 48 feed fuel assemblies with Integral Fuel Burnable Absorbers (IFBA) during the recent Cycle 5 to Cycle 6 refueling outage. The IFBA is a design change, and a departure from standard discrete burnable absorber assemblies.

The attachment to this letter is a summary report of the test results taken during startup and power ascension. No corrective actions were required to obtain satisfactory operation.

If there are any questions, please contact Mr. D. A. Leazar at (512) 95.
