RIVER llEND STATION NOTIFICATION OF UNUSihR EVENI On May 19,1992 at approximately 1355 with the reactor defueled, an employee sustained an injury in the steam tunnel. He was transported from River Bend Station (RBS) to the West Feliciana Parish Hospital. lie had been working in a contaminated area and surveys ;cnfirmed that his protective clothing was contaminated.

At 1452, a Notification of Unusual Event (NOUE) was declared per Emergency

'mplementing Procedure EIP 2-001, Emergency Action Level 17, " Transportation of overexposed or contaminated injured individual from site to hospital" when the individual was transported to the hospital. The NOUE was subsequently _

terminated at 1722 when the contaminated protective clothing was removed and the individual was surveyed and determined to not be contaminated. The hospital, ambulance, associated equipment and personnel were surveyed, determined to be free of contamination and released for unrestricted use and the contaminated protective clothing was returned to RBS.

Initial notification to the State of Louisiana and State of Mississippi, the fivc local governments within the 10 mile Emergency Planning Zone and the Neclear Regulatory Commission Incident Response Center began at approximately 1500 and was completed at 1521. Notification to the state and local cernments and NRC of the termination began at 1730.
