SUBJECT:

INTRODUCTION OF WEAPON INTO PLANT'S PROTECTED AREA On December 30, (Monday) 1985, two contractor vehicles used to provide service to the cafeteria were allowed escorted entry into the Licensee's protected area. Both vehicles were searched prior to being granted entry, however upon entering the protected area, one of the vehicle drivers produced a .38 caliber revolver which had not been detected during the search. The Region 11 Security staff is reviewing the circumstance involving the introduction of the weapon into the plant's protected area.

Region 11 (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by Resident inspector by telephone on December 30.
