[External_Sender] NO to extended operation of Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant!

RE: The irresponsible proposal to extend the license for Diablo Canyon for 20 more years!
We know that several more earthquake faults under and adjacent to this plant have been discovered over the decades since it was built. It is playing with chance and extremely irresponsible to extend this aged-out plant which was quite properly on track for closure next year. I dont want our government to invite a Fukushima event on California's Central Coast.
Quite apart from the numerous dangers involved in extending the plants license beyond its end date is the fact that this in effect also damages Californias robust clean energy industries. They were preparing to pick up the slack as Diablo Canyon closed. Now they are going out of business.
We can see that the investor-owned monopoly public utilities prefer fossil fuels and extremely-costly-to-build nuclear plants and centralized control. Industrial-scale solar would seem to be acceptable, since it takes a long time to negotiate and litigate sites, build costly new transmission lines, and so allows a continuation of the status quo.
I urge you to consider the incalculable harm that could come to California in the event of an earthquake on the San Andreas fault or any of the faults around the plant.
But a hugely costly, deadly event is quite possible even without an earthquake, given the age of the plant and the embrittlement of Unit 1s reactor pressure vessel.
Please consider your responsibility to the people of California, not to the nuclear industry.
Sincerely,
Charlene M. Woodcock 2355 Virginia Street Berkeley CA 94709
