ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF WITHDRAWAL AND NOTIFICATION OF THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION STAFF EFFORTS CLOSURE - COST ACTIVITY CODE/ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER 001794/L-2023-DOT-0004

Dear Richard Boyle:

By letter dated March 14, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML23090A114), the United States (U.S.) Department of Transportation (DOT) submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) a request to revalidate the Czech Republic Certificate of Approval No. CZ/100/B(U)F-96, Revision 0, Model No. SKODA (SKODA thereafter). The SKODA transport package is certified to load TRIGA and MTR fuel assemblies as listed in the MTR TRIGA certificate.

The -KODA VPVR/M cask is intended for transport and storage of defined spent nuclear fuel from research reactors.

By a letter dated February 7, 2024 (ML24051A088), you informed the NRC that the DOTs applicant decided to withdraw the application for the Model No. SKODA from NRCs review. This communication serves as our acknowledgement of receipt of the request to withdraw the application and as notification of the termination of the NRC staffs activities on the review of your application. The Cost Activity Code/Enterprise Project Identification number 001794/L-2023-DOT-0004 have been closed.

Based on the review of your application to date, the NRC staff has identified areas where additional information is needed to enable the staff to complete this review.

Should you decide to resubmit your application, you will need to provide a complete application, including all the information identified in the email dated December 14, 2023 (ML23349A185).

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 2, Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The PDR is open by appointment.
