Washington Public Power Supply System has applied to NRC for a license to operate its Nuclear Project No. 3 which is under construction in Gray's Harbor County, Washington. The site coordinates are at latitude 46' 57' 34" N and longitude 123' 28' 15" W.
The site is 16 miles east of Aberdeen WA, on the Chehalis River which will serve as source and receiving waters for power plant condenser cooling.. Other surface waters in the innediate site vicinity include: Wynoochee River; Satsop River; Hyatt Elizabeth Workman, Fuller, Stein, and Purgatory Creeks. The location of the site and associated transmission lines are shown on the enclosed maps.
We are preparing an Environmental Impact Statement' as part of our operating license review. To assure a thorough review, we request that your office provide NRC with infonnation on the presence of plant and animal. species listed or proposed as threatened or endangered in the vicinity of the site and transmission corridors.

Although official confirmation has not yet been received from the Washington Public Power Supply System (WPPSS), it is expected that an announcement will be made soon regarding the suspension of construction activities at the Washington Nuclear Plant No. 3 site near Satsop, Washington. Accordingly,.we request that U. S. Geological. Survey discontinue its geological and seismological review of the WNP-3 operating license application as of July 29, 1983. A modification of Interagency Agreement No. NRR-83-105 deleting this review effort (FIN y'
B8633, Project No. 2, Tasks 3 and 4) will be made after the NRC receives from the Supply System a fomal notification of the suspension of construction activities at the Satsop site.
As you will recall, we had discussed the July temination of.the USGS review of the WNP-3 application by telephone on July 22, 1983.
