Seismic design considerations applied to common boundaries between Category I and either Category II or Category III structures and systems.

Prepara and furnish a " Seismic Design' Consultant Report for San Onofre Units 2 and 3" containing a summary of the conclusions reached, based on d2e evaluation of the preliminary design within the scope of I above, taking into account (a) the information submitted by the applicant, (b) discussions held with the AEC regulatory staff, and (c) AEC meetings with the applicant and its seismic design consultants in which you may have participated.

Prepare and furnish in a separate. report a discussion of the summary conclusions of 2 above, and their bases.

Serve as an expert witness in the public hearing on this facility, l

if required.

Your initial review of the PSAR volumes should include the identifi-cation of areas of concern and areas requiring additional information, within the scope of 1 above.

Please advise us, at the earliest

~j opportunity, of the results of this laitial review and any additional j

information needed so that we may add your information requests, as appropriate, to those which the AEC will transmit to the applicant.

j Copies of the amendments prepared by the applicant in response of these AEC requests for supplemental information will be forwarded to you upon receipt.

Volumes I through IV of the Preliminary Safety Analysis Reports for this facility are enclosed for your use.

All correspondence and reports as may be required to comply with this Work Directive for i

The maximum amount payable to your. firm in order to perform the services requested in 1 through 3 above is $5,000; item 4, if required.will be costed separately. Ot2 present schedule requires that you provide us with any questions or requests for additional information by July 13, 1970, and a final report by January 11, 1971.

This constitutes a Work Directive pursuant. to Article' I, paragraph (b) of Contract AT(49-5)-2667.

All other requirements specified in Contract No. AT(49-5)-2667 remain unchanged.
