Dear ht. Lowens t eit.:
I l
l As a result of your eclephone call to me on Friday, Ayrtl 5,1963, representatives of this Division and I met with Massrs. J. F. Neeell, G. Hadlock and F. N. Watson of'your staff on Tuesday, April 9 to discuas the proposed reactor to be located at the Bodega Bay Atomic Park and referred to as Unit No.'t.
We were informed at that time l
that the AEC was preparing to present the Bodsga proposal to the ACES on Thursday, April 11.
Your staff indicated that the AIC did not have and, at that time, did not plan to have an expert in seis:nology evaluate the information presented by the Company. I suggested that the AEC should have such l

I might add that 3

Although Dr. Tocher, a reputable 8 seismologist, was hired by the Coogany te evaluate the maximum probabis intensity at the site, we do not betteve it would be wise for the hesich and safety of.the public apparently to rest solely on the analysis of one seismologist, an appears to ce the case nere. Eoch the Preliminary Nasards Sussmary Report, f age V-6, and Exhibit No. 48 by PG6E before the Public 1:r111 ties Cc,annissier. entitled, Consultants' keports of Geologic and 3eismic Conditions at the Proposed Bodoga Bay Power Flant Site and Sutmary of those Reports," indicate that Dr. Tocher was the only Seisw logist to evaluate the probable intensities at the site.
I would appreciate your consuents and any sources of information you may have thet may clarify the aheve questions. Our staff is revicer-ing information as it becomes available pertaining to the potential envirotunental health consequences associated with this plant. Our cocznents will be directed to you in accordance with the relation-ship established between our organizations.
