Department'of the Interior in which you expressed concern with respect to the proposed construction of a nuclear power reactor at Bodega Bay, California. Your letter has been referred to the Atomic Energy Commission for reply.

Enclosed is a paghlet prepared by the Commission's. Division of Public Information which describas the procedures relating to the lica.nsing of power reactors by the Atomic Energy Com-mission. The public will be given' thirty days notice of the date. and place of public hearing in this matter through a -

notice published in the Federal Register. In addition, a pubite announcement will be issued.

We feel confident that these procedures and their provision for public hearing will enable all interested persons. to acque!at themselves with the details of Pacific Gas si Electric Company's proposal and that these. extensive procedures will assure 4-thorough consideration of all aspects of the proposed plant bearing upon the question of whether it can be constructed and operated et the proposed site without undue risk to the health' and safety of the public.
