' Clarification of ESD 223 We request the following clarification of ESD 223, rev 8-23-03, be imple. rented 12 mediately.
Read 6.6.2.5 Horizontal and vertical gaps nu.y be increased to h" for fram fabri-cation. These gaps shall be adjusted by shimming to meet drawing requirements after the frams are couplete.
i Change 6.6.2.6 All other shims nust be shown on the as-built drawing, but do not need PG&E authorization.
Shims should be fillet welded on all accesible corners with a mininum weld size in accordance with A.I.S.C.
requirements (weld size should not exceed shim plate thickness for material less than " thick) with 'a mininum length of 1" or four (4) timas the weld size whichever is greater. A mininum of two opposite edges shall be welded.
