Weld Parsneterst Welding parameters are specified in the table on page 3,of,3,.

Welding Techniques The welding technique shall be as fonows:

10.21.80 A) BEAD WIDTE - All weld beads deposited in the flat (1G), Borisontal (2G) and Overhead (4G) positions shall have a maximum width of three times-the core diameter of-the electrode used with a tolerance of plus one core,

dismater, however, weaving is allowed on the cover pass only to a maximum

' of five times the electrode dia==ter.

DEFECTS - All.visable defects, i.e., porosity, crater cracks, cold lap.

shall be removed priot to the continuation of welding by grinding or fining.

D) RUN-OFF TABS AND BACEING STRAPS - Run-off taba and backing straps will be used whenever possibia. Run-off tabs should be resqved. Back$ng. straps need not be removed unless specified by the,ownar or his designated repre -

sentative.

Removal of. run-off tabs shan be accos(11shed by thbraal cutting within 1/8" of the weldment and then blended into the base metal by grinding.

Alternatively, removal may be entirely secomplished by grinding. Renoval of backing scraps win be accomplished by grinding or gouging to sound metal, and then back welded as needed. When any thermal process is used, the appli-cable preheat requirements are mandatory. Preheat may be maintained during grinding as desired.
