Our evaluation of geological and asipuological matters relating to the proposed San Onofre Unit Nos. 2 and 3 (Docket Nos. 50-361 &

362) has been more extensive than that given to the same matters for other proposed facilities. The need for this in-depth evalma-tion resulted from the complex nature of the geology and seismology in the Southern California area.

The applicant has respondad to all our requests for additional information en these matters and copies of the responses havs been transr.itted to you. We would like to obtain a written report.

on the final resnits of'your evaluation of this application by April 15, 1971. Addittenally, we would appreciate receiving an

oral presentation of the results of your evaluation during the meeting with the staff on April,8, 1971.
