THEY ALSO INDICATED THAT IF THIS FAULT Is RELATED TC THE 1EAW ANDREAS FAULT THE NECHANICS EXIST FOR STRONC Hr.'iEMEt.T ALOI;C Td13 FAULT. ALTHOUCH THE VIRTICAL MOVEMENT e550CI ATED WITH THE FAULT HAS BEEN I!EASURED 70 BE FROM 2 TO 14 s INCHES' THE MACHIUDE OF THE HORI2ONTAL OFTSET OR DISPLACEMENT CANNOT EE DETERMINED UNLESS SOME REFERENCE N ARKINGS ARE DISCOVERED WHICM WOULD FROVIDE A MEANS OF MEASURING THE HORI2ONTAL DISPLACEMENT ALCNC THE PLANE 0F THE FAULT. U.S.C.S. NOW FEELS THAT THERE IS SRONG EVIDENCE TAAT -THIS FAULT IS TECTONIC IN ORIGIN. ACCORDING 10 THE U.S. CEOLOCIETp', TOCHER CONCURS WITH THEIR OBSERVATIONS.
